Christmas date for farmers' market

ONE of Hull and East Yorkshire's most popular farmers' markets – cancelled earlier in the month because of bad weather - will go ahead a day before Christmas Eve.

The Humber Bridge will host the special pre-Christmas Market on Thursday, December 23, at the Humber Bridge viewing area in Hessle from 9am to 1pm.

Available will be locally produced meat, vegetables, fruit, preserves, bread and cheese, festive produce, festive crafts and gifts.

The business manager for the Humber Bridge, Neil Marshall, said: "While this event was initially scheduled to give visitors the chance to pick up orders they had placed at our December market, we are now opening it up to the general public.

"The weather conditions forced us to change the date of our previous event, and we wanted to make sure that everyone in the region had a chance to visit and pick up the best in regional produce."

The market is accredited by the National Farmers' Retail and Markets Association, which acts as a guarantee that all food sold at the market has been produced locally and is being sold directly by people involved in the production process.
