Christmas warning to ‘wanted 20’

POLICE are warning fugitives in Hull who are subject to arrest warrants to hand themselves in – or face being spending their Christmas in custody.

Names of 20 people who have failed to appear at courts or police stations as part of bail requirements have been circulated, and officers warn time is running out.

They can avoid arrest by attending any police station day or night, but face an“active pursuit” if they do not.

Hull’s warrants supervisor, Mike Milner, said: “Over Christmas last year, Humberside Police published a list of 22 people wanted on warrant in Hull.

“Of these, four people surrendered themselves to the police, another seven of those who failed to take notice of the warning were arrested over the festive period and had their Christmas celebrations disrupted.

“Of the remaining 11, police received information from the public about all but one of those named and they were quickly arrested and put back before the courts early in the New Year.

“The message is clear to those who are wanted – hand yourself in or it may be the police calling this Christmas and not Santa Claus.”
