City hosts international conference

MORE than 300 international scientists and clinicians are set to gather in Sheffield today for a conference looking at how both the spread of cancer and its treatment affect bones.

The Cancer and Bone Society 10th International Conference, which has been jointly organised by academics at Sheffield University and Weston Park Hospital, will feature lectures and presentations of research focusing on cancer-induced bone diseases.

The event, which takes place at Cutlers Hall, will feature speakers

from Europe, North America, Australia and Asia.

Professor Rob Coleman, professor of medical oncology at Sheffield University and head of the Cancer Clinical Trials Unit at Weston Park Hospital, said: "This conference reflects the long-established expertise in cancer and bone research that we have in Sheffield." The conference will run until Saturday.
