Clampdown urgedon seatbelt use

The AA is calling for stricter enforcement of car seatbelt laws.

Highlighting previously published Government figures, the AA said it was “astonishing” that more than a third of car occupants killed in collisions were not wearing seatbelts. Lessons should be learned from the death of Diana, Princess of Wales, who was not wearing a seatbelt in her fatal car crash in Paris in 1997, the AA said. It added that driving instructors should reinforce the “Clunk Click Every Trip” seatbelt message popularised by Sir Jimmy Savile.
