Classes to help overweight children

WEIGHT management classes for fat children and their families in South Yorkshire are set to get underway in Rotherham and Doncaster later this month.

The free classes, run by Carnegie Weight Management, will begin on Saturday, January 22 and last for 12 weeks.

After three months of attending the sessions, children will be able to access a 12-week follow up course and use facilities on a members' website.

A spokesman for Carnegie Weight Management said: "The clubs are for children aged four to 17 who are concerned about their weight and can attend with a parent or carer.

"They are a great way to kick start the new year, meet new friends, take part in fun activities and learn about healthy lifestyles."

Sessions will begin at Trinity Academy in Church Balk, Thorne, on Saturday January 22; at Pheasant Bank Junior School and Ian Wilson Community Sports Village in Rossington on Sunday, January 23; at Rotherham Leisure Complex on Monday, January 24; at Aston Leisure Centre in Rotherham on Tuesday, January 25 and at Maltby Leisure Centre, also in Rotherham, on Wednesday, January 26.
