Clipper race pair to tell their stories

WINNERS of the Clipper Round The World Yacht Race will next week talk about their experiences.

Two crew members from Spirit of Australia – journalist Penny Rance, 33, and electrical engineer Kelvin Cope, 35 – will speak at Bishop Burton College next Tuesday at 7.30pm in an event organised by villager John Dunning after Miss Rance's parents stayed at his holiday cottage for the Clipper send-off from Hull last September.

Mr Dunning has been following the race daily.

He said: "Penny came and stayed with her parents last year and they are coming back again. I suddenly realised this was a very good chance to raise some money for a sailing charity and Bishop Burton Church.

"They've had many ups and downs; a horrendous trip across the Pacific from China to San Francisco."

The 10 tickets are available from the village shop.
