Coastguard called after casualty falls from cliff top in Aldbrough

The coastguard was called out in the early hours of this morning after a casualty fell from a cliff top in East Yorkshire and became stuck.

HM Coastguard Hornsea were called to reports of a person falling down the cliff at Aldbrough before becoming trapped.

Bridlington Coastguard Rescue Team were also tasked to assist.

The team arrived and found the person 10ft from the cliff top but unable to get back to the top.

Lighting equipment and a rope rescue was set up to conduct the operation to save the person.

Fortunately a fisherman's access route was located by coastguards and the casualty was escorted to safety down to the beach and back up via the main access point.

HM Coastguard Hornsea said: "If you find yourself in difficulty along the coast, dial and ask for the Coastguard. "
