Code issued over sea encounters with wildlife

Boat users are being urged to think about their impact on wildlife when at sea, with a new guide offering advice on how to behave around creatures such as dolphins.

The guide, launched by the Wildlife Trusts and the Green Blue, a joint environment initiative by the Royal Yachting Association and the British Marine Federation, advises on how not to break laws which forbid people from disturbing wildlife.

It urges keeping a safe distance from marine creatures and warns against chasing animals or driving head-on towards them. People are also being urged to report sightings of sea life such as turtles and sharks to help researchers.
