Comfort offered to bereaved parents

Hospital staff in Bradford are holding a memorial event for bereaved parents.

The Time for Shared Memories event will offer support to people from a range of faiths, as well as those who are not religious.

Based around a children's story with music and poems, the memorial occasion has been organised to offer support not only to parents who have lost babies and children, but other family members and friends who are also grieving.

Chaplain David Muschamp said: "The event gives parents and the wider family – siblings, grandparents, aunts and uncles, as well as close family friends – the chance to share feelings and grieve together in a supportive environment.

"Through music and words we will try to help people with their grief, no matter how recent or old their loss. There will be space for reflection, and we will light candles for the youngsters who have died."

The event, which will be based around children's story The Star That Fell by Karen Hayles, will be held on September 18 at 3pm in the Joint Committee Room in Field House at Bradford Royal Infirmary.
