Commentator's livestock loss

IT WAS a poignant show for cattle show commentator Mike Keeble.

He was celebrating everyone else's livestock after losing his own.

Mr Keeble, 72, who farms near Masham, was the first to import Limousin cattle, from France, in 1971, and had kept them ever since until he sold the whole herd to Worcestershire in May.

He said: "We had a huge building come down this winter, under three feet of snow, and had to decide whether to invest a lot of money in rebuilding.

"We still have a few sheep. And we have a son and daughter-in-law and grandchildren still interested, so we might well have some cattle back in the family soon."
