Comments sought on surgery plans

RESIDENTS are being asked to comment on plans to develop a new purpose-built GP surgery in the Eccleshill area of Bradford.

Dr Van der Wert and Partners' GP practice, based at Moorside Surgery, Thornbridge Mews in Eccleshill, serves about 6,300 patients and is looking to move to a new premises to be built on a site in Dudley Hill Road.

Dr John Sullivan, a partner at Moorside Surgery, said: "The new building will enable us to offer a greater range of medical services within an environment which will provide a much improved patient experience."

NHS Bradford and Airedale has confirmed Moorside Surgery is no longer big enough to cope with the demands of patients.

The proposed new surgery, less than half a mile from Moorside, would be three times the size of the current facility, giving enough room for car parking and a pharmacy on the same site.

A public meeting, where people can talk to staff from the practice and NHS Bradford and Airedale about the plans, will be held on Wednesday, July 21, at Eccleshill United Reformed Church Hall, Victoria Hall, Eccleshill.

People can look at the plans at a drop-in session from 5pm to 7pm and doctors will give a presentation at 7pm.
