Commitment? You bet

Durham University students Christopher Brooker and Hannah Grayson yesterday celebrated a winning bet that they would still be together on their graduation day.

Christopher Brooker, originally from Dudley in the West Midlands, staked £100 at odds of 6-1 with William Hill that he would still be with his girlfriend come graduation day in June 2012.

To prove how serious he was about Hannah, from Harrogate, he was keen to place a bet that their relationship would last through their time at university, where both achieved 2:1 grades.

The 22-year-old picked up £600 in winnings as they celebrated in the historic city.

He said: “Hannah did not think I was as committed to the relationship as she was and this was my way of proving to her that I was.”
