Community choir ready for debut

A new community choir based in Leeds rehearsed for the final time yesterday before the curtain goes up on their debut performance at the Howard Assembly Room, at Leeds Grand Theatre tomorrow.

The performance is the culmination of six months of creative workshops with Opera North. The choir ranges in age from three to 60 and is made up of young people from Little London and Shakespeare primary schools among others.

It was formed by Opera North Education to encourage singing across generations and communities and increase engagement in education and the arts.

The choir has been working with a team of artists from Opera North on a weekly basis for the past six months.
