Santa Claus takes a break from his hectic Christmas preparations to drop in on some furry friends at Tropical World, in Roundhay, yesterday.

And while most of the meerkats seem happy to listen to Santa’s tales of elves and presents, one has clearly taken a shine to his furry red hat.

While the warm temperatures here are the polar opposite to what Santa is used to at Christmas HQ in Lapland, he will be back at Tropical World each night between Monday 19 and Wednesday 21 to hand out presents to the kids.

The popular attraction has been transformed for the festive season, with lights, fake snow and a calypso steel band playing carols.

Santa will be there each night from 5-8pm and admission is £3.75 or £3 for LEEDSCard or Breezecard holders.
