Concern grows as man goes missing

A POLICE helicopter was being used yesterday to try to trace a 22-year-old man missing following a night out in Wetherby as police said they are growing increasingly concerned about him.

Steven Johnson, from nearby Clifford, had been in the town with a male friend when they lost contact around 00.30 on Sunday. The last sighting of Mr Johnson is believed to have been between 00.30 and 01.00 on the Wharfe Road Bridge, Wetherby.

The West Yorkshire Police helicopter was deployed to try to find him on Sunday and yesterday. Among the areas being searched are routes he may have taken if he walked home.

Police say they are becoming increasingly concerned and say his disappearance is "very out of character."

He is white, 5ft 8in, with short blond hair, spiked up at the front.
