A WOMAN who suffered life-threatening injuries in a shooting at her home is now in a serious but stable condition in hospital.

The 33-year-old victim was taken to hospital last week from a house in Bircotes, north Nottinghamshire, where a man aged 37 was found dead.

Police called to the property in Galway Road in the early hours of December 27 also found two young children asleep and uninjured.

A police spokesman said the condition of the woman, who is being treated as a victim, had improved in recent days.

It is thought the dead man, named as Paul White, shot the woman then killed himself. Officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with the inquiry.

Detective Inspector Ash Wilson, who is leading the investigation, said the shooting had “devastated two families”.
