Conference looks at dementia help

Work across the Bradford district to support people affected by dementia will be highlighted at a conference this month.

Making it Personal, organised by Bradford Council's Adult Services, marks World Alzheimer's Day on September 21.

The conference at Bradford University's Northcroft Centre will showcase the work and views of those personally affected by the condition and those who support them in health and social care sectors.

It will also look at the move towards giving people more control and choice over their care.

Councillor Amir Hussain, Bradford Council's executive member for social care, said: "With a growing older population, there is likely to be an increased need for dementia support as well as all other social care services, so it is vital that we look at the good work already going on in the district and how we can build on this for the future."

The conference is hosted by Bradford Council, Bradford Dementia Group (Bradford University) and Attend, an organisation which supports volunteering in health and social care.
