Corden heads cast as National unveils season

Gavin and Stacey star James Corden will bring "a whiff of real popular theatre" to the stage of the National Theatre this year, according to its director Nicholas Hytner.

Corden, who appeared at the National in Alan Bennett's The History Boys, heads the cast of One Man, Two Guvnors, an adaptation by Hull-born playwright Richard Bean of the 18th century play The Servant of Two Masters.

The theatre will also this year see performances by Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch and a musical written by singer Tori Amos.
