The coats, bonnets and hats have been worn by names such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Hugh Grant and Billie Piper and will be displayed in several rooms of the historic hall.

Original costumes and accessories from the early 1800s have also been hired from a London company and activities include dressing up, hat-making and creative writing.

Local reading groups have also been drafted in to celebrate the books of Jane Austen and on Sunday there will be "open air reading" of her novels.

Members of Worsbrough Library readers group have agreed to dress in period costume for their readings, and will encourage others to join in as characters from the books.

The clothing exhibition opens on Saturday.
