WAKEFIELD Council is to launch a support programme next month with the aim of helping local businesses and creating jobs in the district.

The Wakefield Business Support Programme is a partnership between Wakefield Council, RCP 21, and South Elmsall, South Kirby and Moorthorpe town councils.

The project has secured investment into Wakefield from the European Regional Development Fund, through the Yorkshire and Humber 2007-2013 ERDF Programme.

Those looking to start a new business venture, or looking to expand or grow a current business, are invited to attend the launch of the programme on September 5, from 10 am until 11.30 am at The Orangery, Back Lane, Wakefield.

Coun Denise Jeffery, cabinet member for regeneration and economic growth at Wakefield Council, said: : “This is a fantastic opportunity for those seeking to grow their business or to start a new business to go along to the launch to see how the Wakefield Business Support Programme can help.”
