Council’s drive to boost image

A NORTH Yorkshire council is set to launch a new advertising campaign which will see its logo branded across its entire fleet of vehicles.

In a drive to boost its brand identity in the city, York Council has revealed plans to kit out the authority with white vehicles, which will be covered in the council’s logo, telephone number and web address.

The move will see its old fleet spruced up or replaced in a bid to portray a cleaner image.

In a report recommending the revamp, Geoff Derham, transport and fleet project manager at York Council, said a consistent approach would be used in future.

“The current state of the livery on the fleet is shabby and inconsistent in the application of branding,” he said.

“It is proposed to return to a ‘clean’ City of York Council identity for the entire fleet, with the removal of most additions unless they are safety related.”

New rules will see cuddly toys banned across the fleet, as well as the introduction of a clear dashboard policy and a strict cleanliness code. The report is due to go before Cabinet next Tuesday.
