Country house at the heart of drive to boost tour trade boost

THE owner of a country house near Sheffield is set to open its doors to tour organisers next month as part of a bid to attract more groups to visit the venue and other attractions in the Peak District.

Official tourist board Visit Peak District and Derbyshire will host an event alongside Alexandra Stillwell, who owns and runs Renishaw Hall and Gardens, next month as the first part of the initiative.

Presentations will be given by David Thornton, the head of marketing and deputy chief executive of Visit Peak District & Derbyshire, and Ms Sitwell, on the attractions of the area.

Mr Thornton said: “This is an ideal chance for tour and group visit organisers across the country to find out about the wide variety of options that both Renishaw Hall and Gardens and other attractions in our area can offer to anyone organising group tours and visits.”

“It’s also a brilliant opportunity for other attractions to book a stand and make group tour and visit organisers aware of what’s coming up throughout 2012 – which promises to be a bumper year for tourism thanks to the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the London Olympics and beyond.”

Ms Sitwell said: “We are delighted to host tour and group organisers here to Renishaw Hall to show just what we have to offer.

“We have a fantastic year of events planned, not least to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee, and hope that groups will choose to visit my home and enjoy its grounds, tours and exhibitions.”

The event takes place on March 29 for more details call 01246 212924.
