Courage of soldiers recognised
Lance Corporal Andrew Wardle, 22, second left, ran through enemy fire to reach the seriously injured youngster and his actions were recognised during the Buckingham Palace investiture ceremony.
Also honoured was Sergeant John Swithenbank, third left, of the Yorkshire Regiment, who received the Queen's Gallantry Medal for helping to save the life of one of the Afghan soldiers he was training in Sangin.
Captain Colin Lunn, left, of The Yorkshire Regiment, was awarded the Military Cross.
Corporal John Hardman, right, from the same regiment, was presented with the Queen's Gallantry Medal.
