Mr Williams fell from his Harley-Davidson bike and was run over by a passing vehicle, Spanish police said. He died immediately.

The motorcyclist was on his own at the time of the accident, which happened at about 3.30pm.

The spokesman added: "It is not known why the man fell from his bike. The Civil Guard is investigating the incident."

Mr Williams, from Sturminster Newton in Dorset, had two daughters, a neighbour said.

"He was a nice guy – quiet and friendly," she added.
