Creating a cake fit for a Queen

Have your say

YORKSHIRE youngsters are being called upon to help prepare a cake fit for a Queen to mark the Diamond Jubilee.

Confectioners at Bettys Craft Bakery, in Harrogate, who have already created special cakes for both the Queen’s Silver and Golden jubilees, have been given permission to make a commemorative cake for Buckingham Palace to mark this year’s landmark occasion.

Now primary and junior schools across the county are being invited to send in their creative ideas to Bettys to be used on the cake – with the winners invited to see their suggestions come to life in Royal icing.

Amy Searle and Ruth Burlison, from Oatlands Community Junior School, Harrogate, came up with some ideas when they visited the bakery. Interested schools are requested to contact Laura Crisp at Bettys on 01423 814000 to obtain further details. Picture: Mike Cowling
