Creative fashionistas show it's a long way from being rubbish

ENTERPRISING designers from school pupils to professional artists are scrimping together for a new anti-waste fashion extravaganza.

The show, called Choose2Reuse, is organised by the York and North Yorkshire Waste Partnership and is being held to urge residents across the county to recycle more.

It will feature a glittering array of artists, craft makers and fashion designers who have been working together to create a catwalk collection from recycled goods.

A group of seven 14-year-old girls from Harrogate Grammar School is also taking part. They say they have been working every hour of their spare time this term to put together a collection inspired by the singer Lady GaGa using unwanted clothing and reusable fabrics and materials.

Pupil Laura Whiteley said: "We chose Lady GaGa as a theme because we wanted to get noticed and create a collection that would stand out on the catwalk.

"It's a lot of fun and we are working really hard.

"We are all very creative and this is a great opportunity for us to show what we can do at such a young age in front of a large audience alongside the real professionals."

The show is being held on January 22 at the Royal Hall in Harrogate.

Tickets cost 10 and are available on 0845 130 8840.
