Crews fight blaze at Halifax reclamation plant

Firefighters are battling a blaze of 60 tons of waste at a reclamation plant.

Crews were called to the site in Swalesmoor Road, Halifax, at 4.20pm today.

Flames from the large pile of waste rubber, wood chip and tyres could be seen from across the Halifax and Queensbury area.

A West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said “There are no reports of any danger to the public at this stage.”

Around 28 firefighters are tackling the blaze.
