Three fire engines from Huddersfield and Slaithwaite stations arrived at Bridge Croft Testing Station in Milnsbridge at around 2.45am.
On entering the building in Market Street, firefighters found three or four cars and a van were involved in the fire.
They used a large jet, a hose reel, four sets of breathing apparatus and a positive ventilation fan while putting out the blaze.
