11-year-old boy found safe after huge search near Hull

AN 11-year-old boy who went missing from his home near Hull overnight, sparking a major police search, has been found safe and well.

Benjamin Nicholls, known as Ben, was last seen before going to bed just after 9pm last night, at his home in Elloughton, Brough.

Police said Ben suffered from health problems, which made him want to be on his own.

Police searches were carried out in Brough, Elloughton and the Dales area, along with checks in fields, at hospitals, on public transport and outbuildings. A police helicopter was also scrambled.

He was reported missing at 7.15am today and was found in woodland a few miles from his home by the police helicopter just after 10am.

He was met by officers on the ground and has now been returned to his family.

Inspector Kirsty Tock said: “It must be every parent’s worst nightmare to discover your child missing. I am pleased within two hours of his disappearance being reported to he police, he was found safe and well.”
