Appeal after ‘frightening’ attack on woman in broad daylight at Leeds Roundhay Park

Police are appealing for information after the incident at Roundhay Park at around 10.17am on Sunday, August 23 when officers were called to reports that a 29-year-old woman had been grabbed by a man while walking on a path near the old swimming pool car park.

She managed to break free and get away from the suspect.

The suspect is 6ft 4in, very dark skinned Afro-Caribbean, in his 20s, of medium build with broad shoulders, brown eyes, a flat, big nose, a big top lip and short black hair in small tight knots. He wore a dark hooded top and shiny black tracksuit bottoms. Det Sgt James Entwhistle, of Leeds District CID, said: “This was a very frightening ordeal for the victim and we are investigating possible motives behind this attack. Fortunately she was uninjured but understandably very upset.”

He added: “This attack took place in broad daylight at a time when Roundhay Park would have been busy with walkers and joggers.”

Detectives are keen to speak to two women walking Dalmatian dogs may have seen the victim before the attack.
