Appeal after high-value diggers stolen from engineering firm

Police are appealing for witnesses after two diggers were stolen from a business in Mexborough, Doncaster.

Thieves forced their way onto the site of Catlow Civil Engineering, in Pastures Road by breaking the gate locks, between 7.30pm and 9pm on Wednesday July 20.

South Yorkshire Police said the suspects are then reported to have stolen two bobcat miniature diggers, using a white van to transport the machinery off the premises. The van is believed to have had a trailer attached to it.

A black car was also seen near to the site at the time of the incident. Both vehicles left the area heading towards High Melton.

One digger has since been recovered in Chapel Lane, Thurnscoe.

An investigation is underway and officers are reviewing CCTV footage from the local area.
