Banned driver crashed car into house in Leeds during police chase

Mahmoon Hussain caused more than £20,000 worth of damage after the vehicle ended up in the living room of the property during the incident in Moortown, Leeds.

Hussain, who has a history of driving offences, took the car from the driveway of his car dealer brother’s home on January 15.

Police officers indicated for Hussain to pull over after he was seen driving too fast through the Meanwood area of the city

The 24-year-old initially stopped but then switched the engine back on and sped off. He reached speeds of around 80mph in 30mph areas during the pursuit.

Hussain lost control at the junction of Carr Manor Road and Stainbeck Road. The BMW ploughed through a fence and ended up embedded in the living room wall of a house on Stainbeck Road.

The homeowner was in bed at the time of the crash and escaped injury. Hussain staggered from the wreckage and was arrested in the garden. He told officers: “It’s my brother’s car. He will kill me.

He was the subject of a community order for driving while disqualified at the time of the incident.

Hussain, of Carr Manor Road, was jailed for 16 months after pleading guilty to aggravated vehicle taking, two offences of dangerous driving and driving while disqualified.

Judge James Spencer QC said: “You fancied going to the takeaway and, knowing full well you were disqualified from driving, you climbed into this BMW five series.”

He added:“The householder must have been terrified.”

Hussain was banned from driving for a three years
