Body found in hunt for missing Leeds pensioner

POLICE officers who were searching for a missing pensioner from Leeds have found a body.

Edward Roberts, 89, from the Red Hall area of the city, disappeared after leaving his doctor’s surgery in Asket Drive, Seacroft, last Monday.

Officers were investigating the possibility he may have travelled to Morecambe in Lancashire, where he used to live, to celebrate his 90th birthday tomorrow.

But they confirmed yesterday that a body thought to be that of Mr Roberts had been discovered – not far from where he was last seen.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Police searching for Edward Roberts, the 89-year-old man missing from the Seacroft area since Monday, January 13, have found a body in the Bogart Hill Road area of Leeds.

“Investigations are ongoing to identify the body and ascertain the circumstances of the death.”
