Body found in woods as police search for missing Huddersfield man

Police looking for a missing Huddersfield man in woods near his home said today that they have found a body.

Robert Carter, 41, was reported missing last night (Wednesday). He left his home at Bourn View Road in Netherton at about 7.10pm and was believed to be headed for woods nearby, West Yorkshire Police said.

Searches were ongoing today in the area to try and find him.

Detective Inspector Mark Truelove of Kirklees CID, said: “Police searching for missing Robert Carter from Huddersfield have found the body of a man.

“Officers searching in Netherton Woods located the body of an adult man at around 11.41am this morning. A post mortem and formal identification will be conducted but at this stage there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances.

“Mr Carter’s family have been made aware of the development.”
