Boy suffers '˜life-threatening' injuries and driver arrested after double collision in Sheffield

The driver of the silver Freelander, a 31-year-old man, remained in police custody today (Monday) after being arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving over the prescribed limit after the incident in the Nethershire Lane area.

South Yorkshire Police said it was reported the car was first in collision with a black Audi A4 at the roundabout where Hartley Brook Road meets Nethershire Lane at around 6pm.

Two children travelling in the Audi suffered minor injuries.

The Land Rover driver alledgedly continued travelling along Nethershire Lane, where it was involved in a second collision with a blue Rover 100.

An 11-year-old boy, a passenger in the Rover, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries where he remains in a stable condition. The 61-year-old woman who was driving the Rover suffered minor injuries.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed either incident or saw any of the cars prior to the collisions to call them 101 or email [email protected] quoting incident number 954 of 26 June 2016.
