Boy trapped under car after crash in Bradford

A SCHOOLBOY was badly hurt today after he was hit by a car and became trapped under the vehicle.

The collision took place at 7.50am at the junction of Haigh Hall Road and New Line in Apperley Bridge, Bradford.

Firefighters were despatched to the scene but the boy, who suffered serious injuries, was released from underneath the silver Renault Scenic before crews arrived. He was taken to Leeds General Infirmary.

A West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue service spokeswoman said: “Contingency crews assisted paramedics and police in delivering basic life support and first aid. The youngster was transported to hospital via ambulance.”

The incident took place during the latest two-hour strike affecting the fire and rescue service in West Yorkshire. Contingency crews from Idle, Bingley and Fairweather Green attended.
