Builders dig up human remains

Human remains have been discovered by builders digging the foundations for a new school sports hall.

Police were called to the construction site in the Harbour School grounds in Portsmouth, at 10.20am yesterday.

A Hampshire Police spokesman said: “Police are currently investigating following the discovery of human remains buried at a site in Tipner, Portsmouth.

“The remains have been confirmed as human but it is not known at this time how long they have been in situ.”

The remains were thought to be more than 100 years old.
