Clifford tells of sex claims ‘nightmare’

PR guru Max Clifford has talked of his ongoing “nightmare” after he denied 11 counts of historic indecent assault on teenage girls.

The 70-year-old, famed for representing the likes of Simon Cowell, is accused of charges relating to seven alleged victims, aged 14 to 19, between 1966 and 1985.

Clifford, from Hersham in Surrey, pleaded not guilty to all the counts at a hearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

Speaking outside court, after being released on conditional bail, he said: “This is a nightmare for myself and my family and has been since December when I was arrested in a very public way. What I’ve got to do now is to prove that these allegations are totally without foundation, which I know they are.”

He must live at his Surrey home and not contact prosecution witnesses. He will next appear at Southwark Crown Court on June 12.
