County police’s gifts for ‘desperate’ abuse victims

HUNDREDS of presents are being donated to the victims of abuse and their families by police in North Yorkshire.

The 500 gifts were collected at police stations around the county and will be distributed to refuges and charities over the Christmas period .

It was organised by North Yorkshire Police’s Protecting Vulnerable Persons Unit.

Detective Constable Lee Featherstone, who led the collection, said: “The festive season can be especially difficult for children and adults who have been affected by crime and they can often find themselves in desperate situations.”
