Couple deny murders of buried elderly parents

A DAUGHTER and son-in-law have denied shooting her elderly parents from Nottinghamshire who were found buried in their own back garden.

Susan, 55, and Christopher Edwards, 57, each entered a plea of not guilty to two counts of murder at Nottingham Crown Court.

The pair are accused of murdering Mrs Edwards’s parents, William and Patricia Wycherley, between May 1 and May 5 1998.

The Wycherleys disappeared from their home in Mansfield in 1998.

Police launched a murder investigation after two sets of human remains were recovered from the garden of the Wycherleys’ home in Blenheim Close, Forest Town, in October last year.

Post-mortem examinations showed both had been shot.

The court heard that both skeletons had been found with two gunshot wounds.

The remains – discovered
after a tip-off –have not been formally identified but officers
believe them to be those of
Mr and Mrs Wycherley, who would now be 100 and 79 respectively.
