Cow shot dead through eye in 'shocking act of cruelty' near York

POLICE are appealing for information after a cow was shot and killed near York.

The cow, which was in a field at Dunnington, was shot through the eye at about 11pm on Saturday night.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a cow was shot and killed near York in a shocking act of cruelty.”

Officers from York police and North Yorkshire Police’s rural taskforce are investigating the incident.

PC Dan Kirven, of York Police, said: “I would like the public and members of the local farming community to come to me or the rural taskforce with any information they may have that could assist us with our enquiries.”
