Crimewatch to recreate Bingley knife attack

The incident in Wagon Lane, Bingley, on Saturday 15 December 2012, where the victim was seriously injured, will feature on the programme from 9pm on BBC1.

At around 10.35pm the man, 53, opened his door and was stabbed in the neck. He was earlier disturbed by a light outside and spoke to the suspect, who claimed he had lost an item in his garden.

Police published a Efit of the attacker, who is white, around 20 years old, 6ft tall, thin to medium build and wearing a distinctive, patterned woolen jumper. He had dark wavy hair, thick bushy eyebrows, was clean shaven and spoke in an articulate manner.

A Crimestoppers reward of £2,000 is available for information which leads to a conviction.

Detective Chief Inspector Elizabeth Belton of West Yorkshire Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said: “We continue to investigate and appeal for witnesses to what was a shocking and seemingly motiveless attack to a man on his own doorstep.

“I hope the reconstruction due to be screened on Crimewatch may help jog the memory of someone who perhaps saw the suspect that night or who may have information which could assist us.

“We have issued an Efit of the attacker and I would ask anyone who recognises the man pictured or can assist our enquiries to call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
