Death of man found by school children in Leeds woods “suspicious”
The 31-year-old was discovered by two teenagers in Gledhow Valley Woods, Chapel Allerton, at about 8.15am today (Tuesday) as they made their way to school.
Detectives initially said they were treating the death as “unexplained”, but subsequent investigations have revealed cause for suspicion.

Hide AdA forensic post-mortem is due to take place later today to establish the cause of death.
Detective Superintendent Simon Beldon, of West Yorkshire Police Protective Services, said: “Our enquiries at the scene and an initial examination of the body suggest that the circumstances surrounding this man’s death are suspicious.
“We have now established the man’s identity and his family is being informed. A forensic post-mortem will take place later today to establish the cause of death and we hope to be able to provide further updates tomorrow.
“We would like to hear from anyone who has any information that could assist the investigation, particularly anyone who saw or heard anything in the area last night.”

Hide AdGledhow Valley Road was closed while investigations took place and a scene remains in place in a section of woods off Gledhow Lane.
Lara Morley, who lives nearby, said: “I was on my way home from work when I saw several police cars.
“A large section of the woods is cordoned off. It’s a shock.”
