'Despicable' robber brutally attacked woman, 63, in Hull

A WOMAN suffered serious facial injuries when she was attacked and robbed of her handbag in Hull.

The woman, 63, was targeted as she walked along Littleham Close in the Bransholme area of Hull just before 6pm yesterday. (Thurs Jan 5)

A man tried to take her handbag and assaulted her after she resisted. He stole the bag, which contained a number of personal items and cash.

The woman was left with serious facial injuries following the incident.

Her handbag and some of the contents have been located and returned, however a large amount of money was taken.

The suspect is described as being white, around 18-years-old with fair hair. He was said to be wearing a black hooded jacket, dark jeans and trainers.

Detective Chief Inspector Nicky Miller, of Humberside Police, said: “This is a shocking incident where a potentially vulnerable woman has sustained serious facial injuries. We will be prioritising the investigation to identify the despicable man and arrest him as quickly as possible.

“Incidents of this nature are rare, but residents will undoubtedly be shocked that it has happened in their neighbourhood and we will therefore have extra officers in the area providing reassurance and carrying out enquires.

“I would like the public to help us catch the despicable man by calling us on 101 and sharing any information about the who the offender is or details that could support the investigation. Alternatively the public can report details anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 and any information that leads to the man being conviction may result in a reward.”
