Did you witness youths attempt to rob Beverley man?

Detectives are appealing for witnesses following an attempted robbery in Beverley on Wednesday.

Three men approached the 57-year-old victim as he was walking along Trinity Lane at 5.50pm, and started shouting abuse at him.

The first suspect then demanded the victim hand over his phone, before trying to grab at the phone and kicking and spitting at the victim.

Fearing for his safety the victim, approached a Range Rover parked nearby and requested the help of the occupants before calling the police on his mobile. He was then briefly followed by the three males before entering the Beverley College for safety, Humberside Police said.

The victim was not injured in the incident.

Police have issued descriptions of three men they wish to speak to in connection with the incident.

The first was white, aged between 17 and 20 years old and around 5ft 9ins tall with an average build. He had fair to ginger hair and a spotty complexion. He was wearing a dark green water proof hooded jacket, dark work trousers with a high visibility strip around the bottom and work/rigger tan brown boots.

The second was also white, aged between 17 and 20 years old and around 5ft 10ins tall and short, straight dark brown hair. He had long stubble all over his mouth area. He was wearing a light grey hooded top, dark jeans and a grey shoulder bag with a coloured triangle.

The third man was white, aged between 17 and 23 years old, around 5ft 9ins tall with a slim to medium build and wavy light brown hair. He was wearing a dark green coat with four pockets to the front and jeans.

Police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident, specifically a woman with her son in the area prior to the attempted robbery and two people who spoke to the victim whilst he stood in the college who suggested they had seen the assault.
