'Don't have a garden fire': Fire service issue stark warning after multiple homes set alight during lockdown

The fire service issued an urgent warning after multiple homes were caught up in a blaze due to a garden fire.

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said the force were called to a garden fire in Gleadless, Sheffield last night (April 9).

The fire spread to homes surrounding the garden and got 'out of control' according to the fire service.

The force said: "Last night we were called to a garden fire in Gleadless that got out of control and spread to several properties...

"This is what happens when people burn household & garden waste. Please don’t do it!

"We’re asking people to pledge not to have a garden fire during the on-going COVID-19 pandemic."
