Khan appeared at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court and elected jury trial at crown court following his plea of not guilty.

He will appear at Sheffield Crown Court for his next hearing on Thursday, August 18.

Khan was granted unconditional bail until the next hearing.

Khan had been originally due to appear at Magistrates’ Court for a preliminary hearing last week but the case was adjourned after the court heard the Sheffield Hallam University student was in Dubai on a pre-arranged internship.

Arshad Khan, representing the defendant, said at the time papers had been served on his client on July 5 this year.
