Driver fails to stop after killing pedestrian in West Yorkshire

A driver knocked down and killed a pedestrian before speeding off in the early hours of this morning (Sunday).

The driver of a black Seat Ibiza hit the man in Deighton Road at the junction with Browning Road in Huddersfield at 1.15am.

The driver, who had come from the direction of Leeds Road, failed to stop at the scene.

Police believe the car may have been driving in convoy with another car.

The 34-year-old pedestrian was treated at the scene by paramedics, but shortly after was pronounced dead.

The Seat Ibiza was later found by police.

Three people have been arrested in connection with the crash – two 26-year-old women and a 28-year-old man, all from the Huddersfield area.

Police are continuing to investigate.
