Driver told he is facing jail over serious injuries he caused to woman in head-on crash on West Yorkshire road

A man is facing a prison sentence over a car crash in which a woman suffered serious injuries in a head-on collision.

Craig Wright pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving over the incident near Ossett, Wakefield, in June last year.

The 28-year-old admitted the charge when he appeared before Leeds Crown Court yesterday (Tuesday May 26)

Wright, of Westcroft Lane, Selby, will be sentenced on June 16 after the case was adjourned to allow for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.

Wright and a 66-year-old woman were taken to hospital after the collision on Owl Lane on June 29.

The incident took place near to the Newly Weds factory.

Emergency services were alerted to the collision at 8.19am and it caused traffic disruption in the area.

Wright was granted bail until the sentencing hearing.

Judge Andrew Stubbs QC warned Wright that all sentencing options were open, including the possibility of an immediate custodial sentence.
