Ex-bank boss jailed over child porn

A RETIRED bank manager who downloaded hundreds of child porn images while already under a supervision order for possessing indecent images of children has been jailed for 12 months.

Christopher Corke, 66, had six months to run on a community punishment order when he committed the new offences. Public protection unit officers visited his home in Hoylandswaine, Barnsley, in August 2010 and found he had a secret laptop computer to access the internet.

Elizabeth Martin, prosecuting, said: “He was quite frank and said he could not stop himself going on to the computer, saying he did it for sexual gratification.”

Judge Peter Kelsion said the majority of the 1,332 images he downloaded showed girls under 18 and some as young as four, describing the images as “grotesque”.

Jailing Corke for 12 months, the judge said: “You don’t seem to be able to help yourself.”
